Witnesses sought in brutal dog killing

AN ANIMAL rights organisation has called on witnesses of a brutal crime against a dog last Sunday to come forward and give details of the perpetrator.

The Cyprus Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals reported yesterday on the brutal beating of a hunting dog by its owner.

According to the report, at around 9am last Sunday a man in a green pick-up truck stopped near the dog shelter in Moni, Limassol. After taking the dog out the car, he picked up a thick piece of wood from his vehicle and started hitting the dog repeatedly around the head.

The man beat the dog so hard, the animal’s eyes popped out, his ears were cut and his body was bleeding all over. A volunteer from the shelter arrived a few minutes later, and called a vet immediately. He had to put the dog down.

The animal society is calling on the English woman who was in the area at the time and anyone else who may know something about the crime to immediately contact the Moni police station in Limassol and the society on 22350530.
