Yes, even celebrities can get it terribly wrong. Learn how a few basics can make anyone red carpet ready

Meg Ryan

Don’t part your hair in a straight line. A strict centre can cut volume out of short hairstyles and make faces look harsher. In the first picture Meg’s hair also looks flat because of it.
Instead part your hair in the opposite direction of hair growth. Start on wet hair and do prepare with some mousse or spray that will add volume, scrunching small sections to add definition to the curl. Using a diffuser to dry curls will make a huge difference.

Minnie Driver

Short bangs don’t look good on curly hair. The styling is also completely wrong as you can clearly see a frizz surrounding her head. While Minnie has beautiful curls, here her hair looks lifeless and dull.
Do section hair when styling. Starting on a wet head, apply a structure lotion and a gel to each section and scrunch before moving to the next one. Once you’re done, use a diffuser to blow dry and avoid touching as this will cause frizziness. The right product tools make the world of difference between dull and lively curls.

Alicia Keys

The natural look may be ‘in’ but you still have to put in some effort and use the correct hair products. Don’t think that a beautiful dress, fabulous make-up and dazzling accessories will make up for the fact that you look like you just rolled out of bed, especially if you have curly hair. If you don’t have time to style, why not try a ponytail?
Just like in the case of Minnie Driver, do section and apply holding products to the hair when it’s wet and then blow dry with a diffuser. If you want a more natural look, part your hair into no more than five sections to create less individual curls.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah has beautiful hair yet in this picture she sums up another classic example of styling gone bad. She has obviously tried to stray from her natural curls. Don’t attempt this unless you have had the help of a professional.
Do try using a curling iron or rollers to get sexy waves. After you’ve finished, run your fingers through the curls to break them up for a more natural look.

Drew Barrymore

Don’t colour your hair unless you plan on spending time and money treating it well. Chemical processes like colour will strip your hair of its natural glossiness so you need to make sure you make up for this in other ways.
Using a hair mask is a definite do. A good one will moisturise, untangle and add shine to your hair making it look healthy. In the case of Drew, it’s obvious this warmer colour suits her more but it’s the maintenance and shine that adds to this fabulous look.
