Siemens contracts under the microscope

CONTRACTS signed between the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CyTA) and German company Siemens yesterday came under the parliamentary microscope.

The House Institutions Committee decided to examine the agreements following the scandal that broke out in Greece concerning surveillance that took place on Greek diplomats’ mobile phones.

According to Committee Chairman Rikkos Erotokritou of EVROKO, MPs wish to determine whether the scandal was in any way connected with Cypriot companies and diplomats.

CyTA has committed to submitting a list of tenders that were signed with Siemens, along with the cost of the contracts, the conditions under which they were signed and the time it took to reach a conclusion on the tenders.
