Police issue how-to video on using new highway

17:15 AFTER a stern warning earlier this month on how to use the new three-lane highway stretch, and a grace period before clamping down on offenders, police say they will extend the period for another 15 days.

In the meantime they have released a how-to video for drivers.

The 40-second clip is been aired on television stations, and demonstrates to drivers how to use the three lanes correctly. Police urge drivers to watch it carefully and follow it to the letter.

They said the new checks on motorists will begin on December 12.

When the new lanes were opened two weeks ago Traffic Department head Demetris Demetriou said that drivers who did not use the three-lane highway properly would be fined.
