PrimeTel promises faster, more reliable internet connection

WITH THE internet becoming increasingly important for businesses as well as individuals an internet outage can be costly and inconvenient but PrimeTel promises this will not happen again in Cyprus.

They are confident in their promise because Reliance Globalcom, a global company offering network and communication services, will be using PrimeTel’s facilities to connect France to Egypt.

This will be done via a 3,181km submarine cable system – HAWK – connecting the Mediterranean region with Reliance Globalcom’s existing cable system, the largest private undersea network covering India, the Middle East, Asia, Europe and the USA.

HAWK will be making use of PrimeTel’s purpose built landing station in Paphos, a linking point between Europe and the Middle East.

The project came under fire when the Yeroskipou authorities objected to its being built in the area for health and land-value reasons.

The landing station was in the end built elsewhere in Anatoliko industrial area in Paphos at an increased cost, according to PrimeTel’s Theodoros Loucaides.

Joining HAWK will double PrimeTel’s broadband capacity and reduce delay in data transfer.

“As a result, Cypriot consumers can enjoy better quality in broadband services and higher internet speeds,” PrimeTel’s CEO Hermes Stephanou said.
