United over ITV’s coverage of royal nuptials

At last we have something in common. My wife and I have not spoken since 10.35 on Friday morning. I entered the room and she had ITV’s coverage of the royal wedding on. I immediately enquired why we didn’t have the excellent Huw Edwards’ BBC coverage on instead, as this is the done thing on these occasions.

I can’t quite recall the two words she shouted, but upstairs I went and watched the proceedings on my little 12-inch black and white TV. Yet I must admit I kept turning over to ITV because the BBC coverage was, indeed, a a little snooty.

Dancing on Ice star Mr Schofield and his ITN News lady were wonderful – down to earth, funny and a joy to watch – even grumpy old Andrew Neil with a wig to die for came across as a superb and funny guest.

Well done ITV – especially for not putting in endless ad breaks – you were wonderful and the 19 million who tuned in (as expected) to the BBC missed a treat.

Miss Moaning Daily and I have, at last, got something in common.
