High-school students call short strike for Tuesday

Student body PSEM on Monday on all high school students to refrain from attending classes for the third period on Tuesday. The boycott aims to put pressure on the ministry of education to meet students’ demands.

Since last year, students have asked the ministry to reduce the costs of secondary education for parents. They have called for a reduction in money for school buses, exam fees, clothing and stationary.

Responding, the ministry of education asked the students to reconsider their decision, calling it irresponsible. In addition, the ministry questioned the reason for the boycott, as a meeting with student representatives has already been arranged for September 30, when they will have the opportunity to voice their demands.
