VOX is the new club in Paphos and over the next few months is promising to add something different to the nightlife scene there.
“I took on the club and just seven days later, it opened. But in that time we managed to undertake some important changes,” said Paphos businessman Andreas Lemonas who has taken on the club.
The primary change was the name. Previously called Pure, the club is now smaller and has had some slight alterations to the interior. Housed in a large, old stone building in Paphos, close to E&S supermarket, VOX opened its doors at the beginning of the month.
Lemonas has changed the entire staff of the club and says he will be ‘testing the water’ in the next few weeks, before he decides to make the club a more permanent business venture.
“The nightlife in Paphos is poor, especially compared with towns like Limassol, which is why so many people travel there at weekends. We need to raise the standards in Paphos and we will be offering more extreme events at the club to encourage people to stay in the town to party.”
Burlesque dancers, male entertainers as well as American style female dancers are all attractions being offered by VOX.
The club is large, especially by Paphos standards, but a well placed backdrop which will be used for innovative ‘shadow dancing’ has been placed to make the club appear smaller. This was a much needed change and gives the interior a warmer feel.
The two bars were packed on the opening night, and the carefully chosen staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive during the fun packed evening.
“It’s really important to have the right staff and I’m very happy with the people we are working with,” said Lemonas.
Two fixed swings suspended from the ceiling on metal chains on each side of the raised DJ pit caused a stir on the opening night.
“There were a few teething problems with the swings, but they have been sorted out,” said the Paphos businessman.
Drinks are well priced and VOX is aiming to attract the 23 plus age group. Most of the clubbers choosing VOX for a night out are Cypriot and the rest is made up of overseas residents with a few holidaymakers as well.
“Most of our guests come from Paphos but a few do come from Limassol.”
Friday and Saturday night are already busy and the music policy is mostly Greek with some well know international tunes thrown in for good measure.
Themed parties and special events are all currently being planned to coincide with the forthcoming Carnival celebrations, details of which will all be available on the club’s facebook page.
VOX is a quality venue, offering an enjoyable way to spend leisure time and experience something different from other Paphos clubs. Booking is advised as the club fills up quickly at weekends.
