Eight-day remand for shooting suspect

A 34-year-old man was remanded on Tuesday for eight days in connection with attempting to shoot another man, aged 52 in Limassol.

According to police, the 52-year-old reported on Monday afternoon that while he was sitting outside his home, the younger man passed by shooting at him twice with a pistol and then ran away.

One bullet wedged inside the wooden fence surrounding his house, right in front of where the man was sitting while the other one strayed close to his car.

The man was not injured.

Police proceeded to arrest the 34-year-old at approximately 10pm. He denies any involvement in the case.

Both men have had run-ins with police in the past with the youngest having served a sentence for drug related cases.

Police are still investigating potential motives.
