Paphos castle needs new lease of life MP says

The chairman of the House communications and works committee, Antonis Antoniou said on Sunday that Paphos castle was lacking proper maintenance and promotion as a tourist site.

In a statement, the Paphos DIKO MP said though it received many visitors it was treated more like a monument to look at than a castle to visit and something needed to be done about it before 2017 when Paphos becomes Europe’s cultural capital.

“This would help strengthen the tourist flow, increase archaeological tourism and promote the castle and the city in general,” he said.
He pledged that he personally, and as chairman of the communications and works committee would support any effort by the antiquities department to upgrade the castle. (CNA)
