Health supplement recalled over gluten-free labeling

A batch of Naturya Barleygrass Powder supplement is being withdrawn from the market due to falsely stating that it is gluten free, the health ministry announced on Tuesday.

The health services had been notified by their British counterparts that the product contained gluten although on the package it says it does not. The supplement may be unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of gluten.

The ministry asked the suppliers in Cyprus to withdraw the supplement.

In case the product has been already bought by customers allergic to gluten, they are advised to return it to the store they bought it from.

The product batch number is 502051 and comes in 200g packs with an expiry date of March 2017. The supplement is made in China.
