Tourist found dead days after visiting hospital

A 37-YEAR-OLD tourist from Russia staying in Ayia Napa was found dead in his bed by his wife on Wednesday morning.

According to police, she found him lying unconscious in his bed at about 9:15am. An ambulance crew called to the scene administered first aid but to no avail. He was taken to Famagusta general hospital where doctors confirmed his death.

His wife said that on Sunday, he had gone to the hospital complaining of shortness of breath and back pains. Doctors gave him medication and allowed him to go.

A post mortem is expected to take place on Thursday at Larnaca general hospital. A coroner did not go to the scene as there was no indication of criminal activity. Police found no injuries on his body.
