Bomb hoax at parliament

A bomb threat on Thursday at the parliament building, while the plenum was in session, turned out to be a hoax.

Police evacuated the premises after a call was made around 4pm warning that a bomb or explosive device had been planted inside parliament. A similar call was placed to Politis newspaper around the same time.

The police bomb squad, assisted by sniffer dogs, searched the building but found nothing. The police later attributed the threat to a hoax aimed at disrupting the plenary session.

With the search turning up nothing, police gave the all-clear about an hour later.
