Drunk driver stopped with young baby in car

A 47-year-old man from Nicosia and his five-month-old baby were driven home by police on Tuesday afternoon after a breathalyser he was given during a routine traffic control showed he was almost six times over the permitted limit.

According to police, the man was pulled over on the Nicosia-Troodos main road and both the breathalyser tests he was given were way over the permitted limit of 22mg, since the initial test showed 150micrograms, while the second showed 129.

Police said they could not prosecute him while intoxicated and is to be brought before court as soon he is sober, while the baby was safely returned to its mother.
