Putting art together, piece by piece

On Wednesday, Tehnis Dromena Gallery in Nicosia will present the exhibition Mosaic etc by Cypriot artist Christos Cassianos.

Apart from mosaics, the exhibition will also showcase other new work by the artist using other materials. For these works Cassianos collected driftwood from the shores of Larnaca and Limassol to be used in combination with mosaics, clay and other materials.

Cassianos was born in Nicosia in September 1948. He studied Food Technology in the UK, where he lived and worked in the food and drink industry until 2001, when he returned to Cyprus.

As an artist, he painted watercolours for a number of years. After he came back to his homeland, he decided to try a different medium. He studied the art of mosaic and has been working in this form since early 2004. He is always searching for new ideas and different ways to showcase his art.

The artist has participated in several group exhibitions throughout the island, and has also shown his work in solo exhibitions.
