A whole new world

Just after the Easter weekend, artist Andreas Loizou will be exhibiting his new painting collection under the title Evolution at Politis Newspaper in Nicosia.

The collection’s title suggests that the work on show approaches art in a different manner. The work invited the viewer to observe the evolution that the artist now finds himself at, and of the world through his eyes.

Now Loizou has created a new world and a ‘NeW’ artist, as Loizou says.

The new artist began drawing as a child. His first exhibition took place in 2006 and since then he has showcased a total of three solo exhibitions, and participated in eight group exhibitions.

During the period when Loizou was still developing his artist voice and technique, he experimented with different materials and created paintings inspired by different artistic movements. The result was an artist envisioning a pure and clean world, which could be expressed through his art.

Evolution invites us to search for the meaning in the dyads of the paintings which represent the two end of a continuum. Its canvases are part of a revolution and use their simplicity to make a statement.

Loizou, or NeW, wants his new work to speak out on the night of the exhibition’s opening, and wants to share images of his new work with us only then, when the real evolution will come face to face with the viewer.
