Free examinations for diabetics this weekend

Nicosia’s Apollonion Hospital and Medigence Home Healthcare LTD, a home health company, are organising a free open clinic for diabetics today and tomorrow.

The free examinations have been offered to help diabetics during the economic crisis. The examinations will include blood, cardiac and cholesterol tests, and other diabetic-relevant tests. The private hospital’s medical team will include an endocrinologist, cardiologist, plastic surgeon, vascular surgeon, podiatrist, radiologist and a clinical nutritionist.

Diabetes sufferers have high risks of amputation and Medigence is trying to prevent it with the free examinations.

“Proper and diligent care of the diabetic foot, for example, can decrease amputations by more than 80 per cent,” said vascular surgeon Dr Konstantinos Kouyialis.

Examinations will be offered between 9am until 5pm today and between 9am to 1pm tomorrow. For more information contact 77776300.
