FOR MILLIONS across the globe, the BlackBerry has become a necessity never left at home and it is now available in Cyprus.
The BlackBerry is a wireless handheld device introduced in 1999 which supports push e-mail, mobile telephone, text messaging, internet faxing, web browsing and other wireless information services.
Developed by the Canadian company Research In Motion, it delivers information over the wireless data networks of mobile phone service companies.
The device was launched yesterday by MTN, with CEO Bassel Jamaleddine saying: “All over the world, BlackBerry smartphones are enhancing the way people communicate and interact with information. Being away from the office or separated from your PC no longer means you are out of touch, because the BlackBerry empowers you with real-time connectivity.”
He added: “People have become used to MTN leading the market by introducing the best solutions to our customers, and all of us at MTN are very excited and proud to be launching the BlackBerry solution here today.”
BlackBerry smartphones have been embraced around the world by businesses and individuals alike. By extending communications and connectivity into mobile environments, the BlackBerry solution keeps users connected to the people and information that matter most, thereby increasing both personal and corporate effectiveness.
“We are very pleased to be working with MTN to introduce the BlackBerry platform to customers in Cyprus,” said Charmaine Eggberry, Vice President and Managing Director of EMEA at Research In Motion. “BlackBerry smartphones are a great choice for companies and people that strive to be more productive, flexible and ultimately more successful in work and life.”
The launch of the BlackBerry solution from MTN delivers on the re-branded network’s promise to continue introducing new and innovative services for its customers.
At launch, MTN will offer the BlackBerry Curve 8300 smartphone and the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 smartphone.
MTN will also be offering two different BlackBerry services. One will be targeted specifically at the enterprise market, with the other for smaller businesses and individuals.
Customers can use BlackBerry services anywhere in Cyprus as well as over 50 countries worldwide with which MTN has data roaming agreements. The majority of European and frequently visited business destinations are included to ensure business customers can stay in touch even whilst abroad.
