Road tax deadline on Wednesday

THE deadline for renewing road tax expires on Wednesday and late payments will be penalised.

Vehicle owners will pay a €10 late penalty and 10 per cent of their overall road tax licence for payments made after that date, the Road Transport Department has announced.

The deadline for renewing road tax was extended from January to ease pressure on the public as many other taxes – such as Immovable Property Tax – were payable in the November to December period.

Car owners with overdue road tax have the option to pay in 12 monthly instalments, but need to submit the relevant application form by March 31, while payment of instalments begins in April 1.
