A rainbow of melodies

The Embassy of Israel in Cyprus, together with the Association for Persons with Autism Cyprus, are getting ready for the charity concert Rainbow of Sounds and Strings by the Gilad Ephrat String Ensemble, which will be held on Tuesday in Nicosia.

The concert will be held at the Presidential Palace under the auspices of first lady Andri Anastasiades.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Association for Persons with Autism Cyprus.

For everyone present at the historical building in the capital on Tuesday, the sounds of a violin, a cello, a double bass and a mandolin will weave together to create an evening of musical melodies.

The ensemble’s creator, Gilad Ephrat, will be on the double bass, while Keren Tenenbaum will be on the violin, Shmuel Elbaz will be on the mandolin, and Hilla Epstein will play the cello.

The four musicians will go beyond the boundaries of what their instruments can traditionally do to reveal new and exciting sounds. As the title of the concert suggests, the strings will be involved in a conversation together to brighten up the night with a rainbow of colourful notes.

Ephrat, who is also a composer, has collaborated with leading Israeli artists such as Idan Raichel, Yasmin Levi, and Zohar Fresco. He has recently toured around the world with the international singer Lara Fabian.

Some of Ephrat’s compositions will be played during the concert to satisfy most musical appetites as they play on the sounds of jazz, bring to light ethnic sounds and also have an air of classical and Israeli music.

These compositions were influenced by Ephrat’s family roots, as they connect the music that has developed in Israel itself with sounds from Eastern Europe.
