Police detain abusive fan

A 30-year-old man was detained for verbally abusing police officers before a cup fixture between Anorthosis and APOEL in Larnaca on Wednesday.

Police said the man showed up at the Antonis Papadopoulos stadium and asked to be allowed in without a ticket. Stewards asked help from the police who removed the man from the area.

He returned after a few minutes, ticket in hand, but while going through the security checks, he started swearing at the officers, police said.

Officers arrested the man using the necessary force because he resisted.
