Man abducted and beaten in suspected drugs vendetta

A 27-YEAR-old man was abducted and beaten for hours on Sunday in Paphos in what is thought to be a drug related incident, police said yesterday.

The victim told police he had been walking on Ibrahim Kazim Street in Moutallos at around noon when he was approached by three men and forced into a car.

He was then driven to a house where a fourth man was waiting.

The four then stripped, watered down and beat the 27-year-old, police said.

At around 7pm he was released but not before they took €50 in cash he had on him and his mobile phone valued at €180.

The 27-year-old went straight to hospital with a fractured wrist, bruises to his eyes and various cuts to other parts of his body. He was kept in for treatment, police said.

There are suspicions that the 27-year-old was somehow involved with the men and that drugs might possibly have been involved. The victim is remaining tight-lipped about why the beating occurred, but he has named all four men.

An arrest warrant was issued for all four and by lunchtime one was already in custody, police said.

Paphos CID is investigating.
