Police seeking robbery suspect

Paphos police said on Saturday they were seeking a male foreign national in connection with the beating and robbery of a 30-year-old lawyer.

The case was reported to police by the lawyer who claimed he had been ambushed by the suspect after they had arranged to meet at a flat in Kissonerga at 6pm on Friday.

The lawyer said he was hit on the head with a stone as he came out of the lift on the second floor of the building.

The suspect then tied the lawyer on the banister using wire, stole his credit card, €40 in cash, a mobile phone and his car keys.

Threatening him with a knife, the suspect forced the lawyer to give his credit card pin number.

He fled the scene but returned shortly afterwards when he found out that the pin number was the wrong one.

The suspect beat the correct pin out of the lawyer who managed to untie himself later and seek help in a nearby house.

At around 8.30pm the lawyer showed up at the hospital emergency room where he was treated for a head injury and abrasions. He was later discharged.

Police visited the scene and collected evidence. The lawyer’s car was found in the Kissonerga area, they said.

The suspect is aged between 30 and 35, normal build with short brown hair.
