Coronavirus: 6,868 checks, 73 individuals, 5 businesses booked

In an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus police carried out 6,868 checks during the 24 hours from 6am on Wednesday until 6am on Thursday.

As a result, 73 individuals and five establishments were booked for breaking relevant decrees which include a nightly curfew and the obligation to wear face masks indoors and outdoors.

In Nicosia, 2,356 checks were carried out and 35 people were booked. In Limassol, the numbers were 2,156 and 20 respectively, in Larnaca 784 and three, in Paphos 893 and nine, in Famagusta 483 and five, and in Morphou 196 and one.

The businesses which were fined are located in Limassol, Paphos and Famagusta.

No violations were recorded at the ports and airports.
