Coronavirus: two more deaths, 25 new cases announced on Saturday

Two more people have died and 25 new cases of Covid were announced on Saturday.

The two people who died were both men, one aged 87 at Limassol hospital and one aged 73 at Famagusta hospital. Both had underlying conditions but their deaths were attributed to coronavirus.

This brings total deaths to 111, 72 men and 39 women. The average age of death is 79.

There were 25 new cases confirmed by PCR, bringing the total number of positives to 19,391.

Sixteen cases came from testing on private initiative, eight from hospital lab testing and one from passenger checks.

There are 149 patients in hospitals of whom 45 are in serious condition and from those, 20 are intubated.

In the past day, a total of 3,866 tests have been processed, of which 536 were PCR tests 3,330 rapid antigen tests.

From the rapid tests, 208 positives were found which must be confirmed by PCR.
