Coronavirus: two more deaths, 50 new cases announced Friday

Two more people have died and 50 new cases of Covid were announced on Friday.

A 71-year-old man with underlying conditions and a 73-year-old man, also with underlying issues died at Limassol hospital, the health ministry said. Their deaths were attributed to coronavirus.

This brings the total number of deaths to 109, of which 70 were men and 39 women. The average age of those who died was 79.

In addition, 148 people are being treated in hospitals, 42 of whom are in serious condition. Ninteen of those are intubated.

The new positives came from a total of 1,407 tests, of which 1,283 were PCR and 124 rapid tests. From those rapid tests, six positives were detected that must be confirmed with PCR.

The 50 new cases brings the total positives to 19,366.

No cases were found among 299 samples taken at the airports.
