Coronavirus: Police report 60 people and one shop for violating measures

Police reported 60 people and one shop in the 24 hours from Friday morning to Saturday morning for violating measures aiming to contain the spread of coronavirus.

A police spokesman told CNA the force carried out 7,412 checks islandwide, while violations mainly refer to the non use of face masks.

The majority of checks, 2,737, were carried out in Nicosia, where police reported 21 people.

In Limassol the police carried out 2,507 checks, reporting 20 people, in Larnaca 615 checks were carried out with eight people fined, while 615 checks were carried out in Paphos with two people and one shop fined.

In Famagusta police carried out 644 checks with nine citizens reported, while 323 checks in Morphou saw no violations reported.

A further 21 checks were carried out by the port police with no violations.
