Church burglaries

An 18-year-old Greek national, who was arrested yesterday, in connection with the burglary of four churches, reportedly confessed to police that he was behind the break-ins.

The church in the refugee neighbourhood of Moutalos and chapels in Kathikas, Empa and Marathounta had been burgled recently, police said.

A church official had reported to that between June 9 and 10, the church of Ayios Demetriou in Moutalos had been burgled. The burglar had managed to gain entrance to the church through a window and took a small amount of money in coins.
