Pensioner in hospital after gas cylinder explodes

An 80-year-old woman is being treated in Nicosia general hospital after a gas cylinder exploded in her home on Saturday night.

The incident happened just after midnight in the Dimes area of Limassol.

The woman was reportedly at home alone at the time of the explosion.

She has second and third degree burns and due to the seriousness of her wounds is intubated at Nicosia general.

The explosion was believed to have been an old cooker.

From the blast, the woman’s home has also been damaged.
