British museum curator Victoria Donnellan explores the compelling ‘B-side’ to a classic black-figure amphora, in which the main design depicts mythical Greek heroes Achilles and Ajax playing dice, while the secondary design shows yet another hero, Hercules, being conducted to Olympus for his apotheosis.
