Coronavirus: 152 cases announced on Sunday (Updated)

The health ministry announced a total of  152 new Covid cases on Sunday from 3,213 PCR tests,  including 11 confirmations from rapid tests taken in previous days.

  • Out of 637 samples taken through contact tracing of already confirmed cases, 52 cases were identified.
  • Out of 777 samples taken through private initiative, 41 cases were identified.
  • From 232 samples taken from the labs at general hospitals, 15 cases were identified.
  • Out of 240 samples taken after referrals from GPs, 3 cases were identified.
  • Out of 78 samples taken in the Limassol district as part of workers’ testing programme for Limassol and Paphos, 13 cases were identified.
  • Out of 702 samples taken in the district of Nicosia from workers moving between Limassol and Paphos, 6 cases were identified.
  • Out of 212 samples taken in the Paphos district as part of the workers’ programme for movement to Limassol and Paphos,  5 cases were identified.
  • Out of 177 samples taken in the Larnaca district for the movement of workers to Limassol and Paphos, 1 case was identified.
  • From 48 samples taken under school programmes, 3 cases were identified.
  • From 2 samples taken under the immigrant programme, 2 cases were identified.

From 4,401 rapid tests 114 positives were detected. These must be confirmed by PCR.

The total number of tests – PCR and rapid testing – was 7,614.

The latest confirmed cases bring the total to 10,383.

Famagusta hospital currently had 69 patients with 4 in the high dependency unit. There are 24 people in Nicosia, 15 in ICU. Limassol has 19 Covid patients and Makarios Children’s hospital in Nicosia has 7.
