House honours war dead with two minutes silence

The House of Representatives on Thursday marked International Day Against Fascism, and Remembrance Day for the victims of the two World Wars, by observing two minutes of silence during the plenary session.#

President of the House Yiannakis Omirou referred to International Day Against Fascism honoured on November 9, and Remembrance Day honoured on November 11, saying “the violent regional conflicts and extremist religious, racist and nationalistic movements, which resort to the use of weapons and engage in atrocities and cruelties, must awaken us”.
He referred to “the fluidity and tension in the world today” and noted that International Day Against Fascism and Remembrance Day “could and must act as a stimulant for humanity, so as not to allow the revival of the nightmare of fascism and war”.
