Coronavirus: 174 new cases announced on Tuesday (updated)

The health ministry on Tuesday announced that 174 new coronavirus cases were detected among 4,033 lab tests.

Among the new cases are two more people from the Sokration care home in Limassol. They were initially taken to the Limassol hospital and then to the Famagusta hospital for treatment.

According to the information provided by the health ministry, 75 of the new cases were detected through contact tracing.

Another 75 were people who got tested privately. Nine cases were detected during tests given to passengers at the airports.

Five cases were detected among samples processed at the labs of general hospitals.

Eight more people who tested positive were referred by their family physicians for tests.

Two cases were among tests given in schools.

The total number of cases is now at 4,934.

Twenty-seven patients with coronavirus are being treated at the Famagusta hospital, four of whom are in the high dependency unit.

Five patients are intubated at Nicosia general hospital’s intensive care unit and 10 more are being treated at the same hospital.

Six cases were detected in the north among 1,789 lab tests.
