Remand after fake banknotes found in Paphos

A 30-year-old man was remanded in custody for three days on Sunday by the Paphos district court for the illegal possession and circulation of forged banknotes.

According to the police, the foreigner was located at the parking place of the Paphos harbour on October 6 following a tip off.

A body search did not find anything while near where he was ten 20-euro notes were found hidden under some weeds in addition to seven 10-euro notes, five 20-sterling-pound notes and two Scottish notes. The notes were fake.

The 30-year-old denied any connection to the money and failed to show up when police told him to report to the station for questioning.

An arrest warrant was issued against him and after he was found he was taken before the Paphos court on Sunday.
