Strovolos hosts theatre festival

Strovolos Municipality is determined to carry on in the face of corona moves and in the coming days will host the 4th edition of its annual Theatre Festival.

Given the festival’s success in previous years, this October it returns with several theatrical productions by groups from Cyprus and Greece. In its inaugural evening, on October 9, a play by Anthony McCarten and adapted by Andreas Araouzos and Alpha Square in Greek, The Pope will kick off the performances at the Strovolos Municipal Theatre at 8.30pm. Tickets for this performance are €5 and all proceeds will be donated to the Ayios Christophoros Foundation.

Next up, on Saturday, October 10 is a production by ETHAL titled The Grandmother which will again begin at 8.30pm and its €5 entrance cost will be donated to the Seana Organisation. A Greek production will follow, a children’s play called The Scarecrow’s Dream by Evgenios Trivizas. Two shows will be staged on Saturday 17, the first at 3pm and the second at 6.30pm. Children’s tickets are €13 and adults €15.

On October 24, another Greek production will hit the stage. To Tavli is a comedy by Dimitris Kahaides and will play first at 5pm and then again at 8.30pm. Ton Sindromo tis Adeias Foloias will follow on October 25 at 8.30pm before the festival concludes with the monologue Dark Vanilla Jungle by Philip Ridley translated into Greek. This performance on October 29 is free to attend yet tickets must still be obtained for the municipality’s office.
