APOEL clear at the top after win over Anorthosis

Cyprus champions APOEL have gone three points clear of Apollonas at the top of the table after a hard-fought 2-0 win over Anorthosis on Wednesday evening at the GSP stadium.

The Nicosia giants had to wait until the 65th minute to open the scoring through Gustavo Manduca, with Stathis Aloneftis sealing the win 15 minutes from time.

Omonia were also in action against newly-promoted Othellos Athienou. The Greens were frustrated throughout the game, but just when it seemed that the match would end goalless, Mickael Pote had other ideas, scoring a dramatic last-minute winner.

APOEL now have 12 points after a perfect four straight league wins, with Omonia a further five points behind.
