Located within the picturesque streets of the old town of Limassol is the ultra-modern Oshi Asian Restaurant which combines the old world feel of its surroundings with an air of modernity.
Walking into the restaurant you are hit by the relaxing atmosphere. The toned down lighting embraces the ambiance of the restaurant with its huge interactive tables.
The interactive tables really are something unique to the Limassol dining scene and once at the restaurant allow you to order food, drinks and deserts, as well as a taxi home when your are done, all from the comfort of your seat. You are also able to call for waiters and have an inside look into the kitchen while your meal is being prepared.
The distinctive dining experience continues when the food arrives too. Being an Asian fusion restaurant, the meals are all Asian orientated with a twist. There is a large assortment of starters, but we went for the orange crispy duck served in orange cups, toasted pancakes, filled with freshly cut salad mixed with wakame salad and marinated with orange miso sauce – an exciting twist on a popular dish.
We also tried the beef fillet tataki, a seared prime beef fillet sliced with a raw centre and a browned exterior, served cold, with scallions and fried garlic wedges with Tosa-zu sauce. If you are a fan of oysters, but only fancy a taste rather than a whole platter, the menu also offers an oyster shooter, with a single fresh oyster in a glass of ice with ponzu citrus salsa. In addition there is also tuna dishes, prawns, samosas and dim sum.
The main dishes kept up the quality, especially if the Mongolian beef, cooked in a wok and finished in a Mongolian style sauce topped with chopped scallions with a sweet and sour sauce and steamed rice is anything to go by. Delicious – the beef was cooked to perfection and the sweet and sour sauce is the best accompaniment to it, making the meat almost melt in your mouth.
We also tried the rather unusual sea bass abalone and coconut, a sea bass Suzuki infused with an exotic blend of abalone sauce and coconut cream, which create a taste explosion like no other.
The restaurant also offers a wide variety of sushi platters at a great price.
I could go on forever on the amazing and interesting dishes on offer, and their unusual presentation, which alone makes them look appetising.
Combined with affordable prices, the excitement of the interactive tables and the warm staff, this restaurant is a must, but make sure you make a reservation as seating for the interactive tables is limited!
