Events cancelled as Cabinet ban swings into force

As the government banned meetings of more than 75 people more and more events were cancelled or postponed on Tuesday as attempts to stop the spread of Covid-19 are stepped up.

The measure to stop events in closed spaces will remain in force until March 31.

Events so far affected by the decision include:

– All events and meetings of political parties Disy, Diko and Edek

– Events organised in March by Larnaca municipality

– The 14th Limassol marathon scheduled on March 21 and 22, which has been postponed to November 21 and 22, 2020

– The Logicom Marathon in Paphos which was planned for Sunday

– Events organised in March by Strovolos municipality and Strovolos municipal theatre.

– The House of representatives postponed a debate on coronavirus due to be held on March 11.

– Press conference on the issue of Covid-19 in English due to be held at the Amphitheatre of the Press and Information Office (PIO) on March 13

– Examinations for the acquisition of initial training certificate for bus and lorry drivers on March 11 and 12 as well as certification for taxi drivers on March 13 at Ktima Kousioumi.

– Cancer patients’ association and Gesy postponed a speech on the rights and obligations of Gesy beneficiaries on March 18 at the University of Nicosia.

– Food fork market will not be operating on March 13 and 14.

– Uclan university cancelled a seminar under the title “Improve your chances in finding a job” at 12am on March 11.
