Increase in company registration applications

The number of applications to register new companies rose year-on-year in June, the sixth consecutive month, figures released by the company registrar showed.

According to the figures, applications reached 761 in June, from 654 a year earlier, presenting an increase of 16.4 per cent.

However, on a monthly basis, there had been a decrease of applications by 21.5 per cent, the registrar said. In May, 969 applications were filed.

During the first six months of 2014 the total number of new companies registered reached 5,254.
