A BRITISH couple holidaying in Polis Chrysochous in Paphos were hospitalised after suffering an electric shock while using a jacuzzi at their rented villa.

According to a police spokesman, the couple, a 62-year-old man and his 61-year-old wife were both thrown to the ground by the shock. The cause of the accident is currently being investigated.

“The woman was inside the jacuzzi and her husband was trying to get in when they realised there was something wrong with the electricity supply. They were both thrown down,” said the spokesman.

The holidaymakers were first transferred from the luxury villa to Polis Chrysochous hospital before being moved to Paphos general hospital.

The spokesman said: “They were treated for electric shock and doctors say they are in satisfactory health.”

He added: “Further investigations are underway- with the cooperation of the electricity authority- to find out the cause of the incident and to determine if the owner of the villa has any responsibility.”
