Relations boost as president visits Georgia

Two agreements on health and the exchange and mutual protection of classified information, as well as a memorandum of understanding on agriculture were signed by the foreign ministers of Georgia and Cyprus on Wednesday in Tbilisi, where President Nicos Anastasiades is holding his first official visit.

The Cyprus issue, EU-Georgia relations, bilateral, regional and international issues were among the topics discussed by Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides and his Georgian counterpart David Zalkaliani.

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili tweeted after a meeting with Anastasiades that “trade, tourism, technology are all sectors that will be enhanced in the coming years, as we will be inaugurating the Cyprus-Georgia Business Forum tomorrow in Tbilisi for this very purpose.”

In his address during the official dinner hosted by Zourabichvili in his honour, Anastasiades said that Cyprus and Georgia share common expectations with regard to their reunification, on the basis of respect towards international law, and conveyed his gratitude for the principled stance of Georgia vis-à-vis efforts for a Cyprus settlement.
