More popcorn please

It’s that time of the year again when Nicosia and Limassol welcome a series of film screenings of both locally-produced and international films thanks to the 17th Cyprus Film Days International Festival. From Friday until April 20, the island will able to experience contemporary world cinema at the Zena Palace and Rialto Theatre.

With a multi-dimensional screenings programme, Cyprus Film Days introduces films that represent international tendencies, thematic and aesthetic approaches that are currently dominant in film worldwide.

This year nine international films, including a production from Cyprus, will be competing in the Glocal Images International Competition section while four films will be participating in the National Competition section.

So, grab your popcorn and your tickets and enjoy the following films. The Glocal Images competition includes Alone at my Wedding, Holy Broom, South Korean House of Hummingbird, Los Silencios, Ray & Liz, Cypriot award-winning Smuggling Hendrix, Sofia, Tel Aviv on Fire, and Too Late to Die Young.
Await Further Instructions is one of the Cypriot films competing in the National category along with Small White Envelopes and Waiting Room. Besides the films that are competing there will also be a special screening of Pause, a film that won the FIPRESCI award for Best film and National Television ERT award, the Greek Film Critics Union Award and the Emerging Greeks Competition Best Film Award.

All films will be screened in their original language and will be subtitled both in Greek and in English. A full, detailed programme will soon be available on the Festival’s website at www.cyprusfilmdays.com and on its official Facebook page.
