China donates €10,000 to CMP

China donated €10,000 to the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) on Tuesday, after the Chinese ambassador to Cyprus Huang Xingyuan paid a visit to the CMP laboratory.

Xingyuan underlined the support of China to the CMP’s humanitarian efforts and discussed possible areas of cooperation with CMP members, an announcement issued by the committee said.

This contribution to the CMP project on the exhumation, identification and return of the remains of missing persons in Cyprus will support the committee’s goal of identifying and returning as many remains of missing individuals as possible to bring an end to the uncertainty which has affected so many families for so many years, it added.

So far, 927 missing persons from both communities have been identified and returned to their families for dignified burials.
