Man remanded for car arson

A 24-year-old man suspected of setting the vehicle of a 33-year-old woman on fire was remanded for one day on Wednesday by the Paphos district court.

A 21-year-old is already in custody in connection with the same case, while an arrest warrant has been issued for a 37-year-old.

According to the police, the incident occurred at on January 11 at 1.30am.

The vehicle was set on fire as it was parked in the parking lot of the apartment building where the 33-year-old lives in the village of Emba in the Paphos district.

The fire service was promptly alerted by neighbours. The fire started at front of the saloon car causing damage of around €5,000.
