Week-long stormy weather expected to clear by midday Saturday

Cyprus saw more thunderstorms, winds, and rain on Friday night but the Met office expects the phenomena to subside by midday Saturday.

Before midday, storms in the west and in southern regions were expected, possibly affecting the central plain.

Temperatures are expected to reach 19C to 20C inland and in coastal areas, and 10C in the mountains, which is normal for the time of year.

The stormy weather is attributed to a low-pressure system dubbed ‘Penelope’.

Penelope did not affect all countries in the Eastern Mediterranean the same, Mouskos added. For example, Greece has low temperatures but unlike Cyprus, it hasn’t rained.
