Remand for driver in fatal traffic accident

A 47-year-old woman was remanded on Tuesday for two days in connection with the death of 72-year-old Myrofora Aresti on Monday after a road accident in Paphos.

The 47-year-old was the driver of the vehicle that hit the elderly woman while she was crossing a street in Episkopi village in Paphos. The accident occurred at around 1pm. Aresti, who was transferred to the Paphos general hospital, died around five hours later.

According to the post mortem Aresti died from multiple injuries.

Police said on Monday that the driver of the vehicle had initially abandoned the scene but went back around half an hour later.
