Cyta blames ‘technical malfunction’ for islandwide internet cut

An island wide Internet cut which lasted more than three hours disrupted both mobile and fixed services on Monday morning, Cyta spokesman Lefteris Christou said.

“Customers faced problems and were unable to browse the Internet from around 10am and the system was fully back at 1.30pm,” he said.

The problem stemmed from a technical malfunction which is being investigated by the company’s engineers.

“The priority for the engineers from the first moment was to fix the problem and restore functionality, now there is an effort to investigate the causes of the failure in more detail,” Christou explained.
