Pianist Wojciech Waleczek in concert

The island has been lucky enough to enjoy a large numbers of musical events lately including numerous piano recitals. The next one to take the stage that should not be missed is a performance by Poland’s Wojciech Waleczek on November 15.

Celebrating the centenary of Poland regaining its independence, the Pharos Arts Foundation in collaboration with the Embassy of Poland presents Waleczek, one of Poland’s most young promising pianists in a unique piano recital. Recognised as an artist of uncompromising quality, the musician claimed his first public victory at the age of 16, when he won Third Prize in the International Competition for Young Pianists ‘Arthur Rubinstein in memoriam’, and he has been enjoying a busy career as a recitalist, chamber musician and soloist with orchestras all over the world ever since.

The concert will include works by Chopin (variations brillantes in B-flat major, Op.12 and Romanze & Rondo from the Piano Concerto No.1, Op.11 – arrangement for solo piano by Wojciech Waleczek), and Schumann (Arabeske in C major, Op.18).

In the second part of the musical evening, Waleczek will enchant the audience with Paderewski’s Humoresques de Concert Op.14, Chopin’s Valse brillante in A minor, Op.34, No.2, Lutosławski’s Bucolics for piano and Liszt’s Étude No.6 in A minor (from Grandes études de Paganini, S.141).
