Paphos man gets 8 years for assault

THE Paphos Criminal Court jailed a 45-year-old man for eight years on Wednesday after he was found guilty of assault and robbery.

The defendant had been charged with assault and causing bodily harm when he robbed a 73-year-old man outside his house in August last year. He had snatched a bag containing around €7,000 in cash and traveller’s cheques.

Authorities have yet to locate a second suspect who was with the 45-year-old during the attack.
