Chart-topping hits in Limassol

If hip-hop and R’n’B are what gets you in a party mood, then the Dolce Club in Limassol will become party central for you on Wednesday, when singer and producer Jason Derulo will sing the night – and some of the next morning – away.

The American singer began his solo recording career in 2009 and to date he has sold over 300 million singles, with 11 platinum singles to his name. Yet he didn’t start off as a singer. Derulo, whose real name is Jason Joel Desrouleaux, started off producing records and writing songs for several artists.

He finally decided to do some singing, and released his debut single ‘Whatcha Say’ in May 2009; it sold over five million digital downloads and reached number one in the US and New Zealand. As his career progressed, the numbers just kept getting bigger and bigger. His 2014 album Talk Dirty had five singles go platinum, and sold a collective 16 million copies worldwide. The track ‘Talk Dirty’ itself sold over six million singles worldwide and made number one in charts around the world, while dominating radio charts in America.

Derulo is a global chart-topping star who shows no signs of slowing down. In June 2015 he released his fourth studio album Everything is 4. The album merges his pop, dance, and urban sensibilities, marking Derulo as a genre-defying artist. He recently announced that his next album will be entitled ‘777’.

It may seem like Derulo’s career can be reduced to some (very impressive) numbers, but of course it’s all about the music.
